Giant elephant herds · Ancient baobabs · Tree-climbing lions
Tarangire National Park is famous for having one of the largest elephant populations in East Africa — some herds numbering over 300 individuals. The park's signature ancient baobab trees create a stunning landscape unlike anywhere else in Tanzania.
During the dry season (June–October), the Tarangire River becomes the only water source for miles, attracting thousands of animals — elephants, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, giraffe and their predators.
